Translation is finished sans a few hundred bytes of text that have me stuck, but the insertion for them is already taken care of so it won't have bugs when the actual text is done. Therefore, a beta is already out to a couple people to hunt for bugs.
Here's pics from what those people have in their posession currently. For anyone who wants to know, the game is The Crest of Gaia for the PC-Engine system (TurboGrafx16 HuCard fun). It's the prequel to Langrisser I (the PC remake of which I released a translation for in August). If you happened ot beat Langrisser I, you may recall the Efreet telling Ledin he'd aid him since he was a descendant of Elthlead, and Jessica explaining that Elthlead was the name of Baldea in ancient times. This game is set after Langrisser III and before Langrisser I, when Zeighart was the king of Elthlead, the kingom of light in Baldea region. The game follows his crusade against Boser, the prince of darkness, and his demonic army from Velzeria -- at the end of which, Elthlead used Langrisser's power to seal the demons away (this seal was what broke when Emperor Digos took Langrisser from Baldes by force att he start of Langrisser I). Minor asm work on the game. The battle menu wasn't expanded because 8*7 tiles would have eaten way too much screen space. Menu borders have been replaced witht he borders fromt he Genesis version of Langrisser I (because it should give L1/Warsong fans wamy fuzzy feelings). I'm still debating whether or not I want to try and tackle Guyframe next, at the moment, it kind of scares me -- not to mention I'm busy with T2D (which I could use help with if there's any other aspiring writers out there), The Clouds of El Sallia, and some other translation projects, so this is probably the last Langrisser thing I'll be finishing for a while, unless CWX reappears and wants help with Langrisser III on Saturn. Oh yeah, almost forgot. I'm shooting for a release date within the next two weeks, so, fingers crossed and all that. I'm just hoping someone besides me will play the game ![]() Edit: (In case you couldn't tell) I'm still waiting on the phase 1 edits to come back from EricKei. After they do, I'll be editing that. So what you see is by no means finalized/polished script. I make it a rule to always have one layer of edits between my translation and my editing pass. |

That looks really great D. Good job! ^_^ I am awful at strategy games but I love Satoshi Urushihara's designs for all the Langrisser games and I have always thought they looked really cool. It's neat to see the game that started it (not to mention another PCE translation). I'll definitly try it out sometime.

If you want a really good laugh, check out http://d.the2d.com/index.php?page=gaia
Those are the early screens of my hack work from August. It's soooo pathetically bad. I mean, it's REALLY bad. I'll be releasing the tools+script, of course, in case anyone out there wants to do a Spanish/whatever patch of the game. Though I know a lot of people will ***** because it's all in PHP... :-/ Anyway, glad to hear people like the screens, hopefully they like the game too (though the PCE music is a bit rough on the ears. It's nowhere near as clean as it is in History of Elthlead on the X68000) |
