For the further reference of others all I've found to report this use Vista (me included).

hi, I meant to say back there that both the main memory emulator and plug-in can affect this

Using 1964 I don't get the crash here, but texture replacement is still handled by the graphics plug-in. Someone else who used Vista managed to load the re-texture with RiceVideo system but not Glide64.

Also the 1.7.0.10a package includes beta 49, so tracing to the EXE they're the same.

Hmm, looks to me like it's barfing inside pj64 1.7. What's at N64Class.cpp line 326 of the pj64 source code? Perhaps something times out when the texture loading time is too long.

yeah well .. sounds to me like zilmar just didn't put in an error text yet. No way of knowing what the error actually says but fact is that it is crashing while caching textures and only if it's texture packs that are 200+ MB and the crash only occurs with project 64 and not with 1964. Furthermore the crash only seems to occur on x64 Windows. Both on Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64 at least.
