I was wondering, I currently already have a ethernet network, but I was wondering if I could mix and match network cards in pcs with different brands of hubs.  Also, I was looking at this adaptor http://store.yahoo.com/shopnetlux/netusbto10et.html if I use that adaptor, can I hook up an ethernet cable to it, then to my current hub and add the new pc to the network.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to use your USB hub to network your computers...  This thing called EZ-link instant networksing claims to be able to do this.... but remeberer USB has a max data rate of 5 Mbps  (SLOW).

I think you are much better off getting yourself a 10/100 ethernet hub and going pure ethernet LAN, this way you can use the USB for peripheral devices which it was intended for.  Under Wink2k you can even install a couple of NIC (network cards) in order to connect to simultaneaous, seperate networks.  as for the adapter you put up there... you should definitely check if it is compliant with your OS... most of the USB network devices were intended for Win98 and not for Win2k, Me or XP.
