[GUIDE] How to setup a Rose Online Server for Host Play.

I will not even read it. Instead, if you have any issues please reply here, or make a new topic and describe your problem.
That way if anyone else has an similar issue they will know how to fix it.
Also if you're trying any other configuration other than what I have posted here (like for online play!) don't bother asking me.
I will not give support for online hosting and I will delete any topics, or post made of such discussion.

If you name is bob you would type /allskill bob
Then log off and back on.
I tested this with the Champion class. The 1 hand skills didn't show up.
I don't have any time yet to test this further.

Skillbook issue fixed!
This guide is intended to show you how to host/play Rose Online for fun and experimental purposes. It gets boring really fast, but is also very educational.
If the page does not display correctly in FireFox, Use Internet Explorer!
Downloads: Do not install anything yet.
Suggested PC specs for host play is *1GB of RAM XP *2GB RAM for Vista, and 2.5Ghz or better CPU
1. You will need the Rose Online Evolution 139 client. You can download it from HERE (ftp://38.136.124.7/rosena/rose_139_139_na_evo.exe)
This emulator does not have "stable" support for the 154 client!
It might work with it in some areas but not in others. I will absolutely not give support with any errors related to the 154 client.
I know what errors will occur with this client so don't bother posting them please.

2. Now you will need the emulator which it can be found HERE (http://vince.emuxhaven.net/downloads/rosetopic/emu/rev8.0/RoseEmu-Tekno%27s%20Release.7z). Is already setup for host play!
That is a rev_8.0 emulator that I have compiled. You can extract the 7 zip file with either 7 Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/), or WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/)

Once you reach level 250 just type in:
/reborn
The Game will shut down
and once you start it back up your player
will be level 1 but still have all Stats and Skillz.
Once you change class you will notice your skills

If you would like to download the latest SVN version yourself you will need to know how to use
Tortoise SVN (http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads).

The source link is:
https://opensvn.csie.org/osrose/Branches/This is not necessary because the emulator I upload will be the most recent, it will also have more GM commands.
So I will not create a guide on how to do this.

3. You will have to have MySQL installed. You can download it from HERE (http://mysql.org/downloads/mysql/5.0.html)
If you need help to determine which you need please ask. Most people use the Windows Essentials.

4. You will need to install SQLyog (http://www.webyog.com/en/downloads.php) for database management. Download the Stable
release in the SQLyog MySQL GUI - Community Edition area. You want the one under Binaries - Windows

5. You will need XAMPP to create accounts. You can download it HERE (http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=xampp&filename=xampplite-win32-1.6.0a.exe&use_mirror=superb-west)

6. This will be needed for XAMPP so RIGHT CLICK ME - SAVE AS (http://vince.emuxhaven.net/downloads/rosetopic/RoseOnline-CMS-v3.2-Lite.7z)

7. You will absolutely need THIS (http://vince.emuxhaven.net/downloads/rosetopic/GameGuard-Patch.7z) and THAT (http://vince.emuxhaven.net/downloads/rosetopic/RoseOnline_Launcher.zip) to play on the server.

INSTALLATION:
1. Install the Rose Online Evolution client. DO NOT PATCH IT!

2. Install MySQL, Choose CUSTOM install, Click Next, Click the Change tab to the right,

IMPORTANT Install it to C:\MySQL Server 5.0\ click OK,

click next, click install, when the window shows up choose to Skip Sigh-Up, click next,

Click finish, when the window shows back up click next, choose standard configuration, click next, click next,

enter root for both the passwords, click execute, click finish. Your firewall should come and ask if you want to

allow it, choose yes, if you get a error message click retry, then finish.

If the finish tab doesn't show up post the error here please.

3. Extract the Emulator now (right click extract here) to drive C: where it is
C:\RoseEmu-Tekno's Release\6 folders and 1 Text file;
NOT C:\RoseEmu-Tekno's Release\RoseEmu-Tekno's Release\
Open the RoseEmu-Tekno's Release folder, open the Binary folder, open the file:
worldserver.conf
with notepad or a text editor.

Worldserver Config, ONLY edit the settings shown!

exp_rate=300
drop_rate=100
zuly_rate=1000
welcome_msg=Welcome to Rose Offline
maxstat=9999
fairy=0
fairystay=45
fairywait=30
playerdmg=300
monsterdmg=100
4. Install SQLyog to C:\SQLyog Community
Once installed click continue:

Click New at the top and put localhost for the name and press OK

Press OK, then press Connect
In the top left right click on root@localhost and select Create Database:

fix first and replace the current INSTALL DATABASE.bat

double click the file named INSTALL DATABASE.bat,
hit F then enter, wait until it's done and press any key to exit.

Now back in SQLyog right click RoseOffline, (if it doesn't show press F5)
choose Restore From SQL Dump..

Browse to C:\RoseEmu-Tekno's Release\Database\ and choose the
osrose_backup.sql file, Click Execute, then close SQLyog.


5. Extract XAMPP (right click extract here) on C:\xampplite

Make sure it's NOT C:\xampplite\xampplite

6. Open the xampplite folder, open the htdocs folder,
delete all the files in that folder. Extract the RoseOnline-CMS-v3.2-Lite.rar
to the htdocs folder in xampplite. Open xampplite folder, open the htdocs folder,
open _inc folder, right click the file config.php,
and open it with notepad or a text editor.

Fill in the top area as shown:
$cms['db']['host'] = 'localhost'; // Database Host
$cms['db']['user'] = 'root'; // Database User
$cms['db']['pass'] = 'root'; // Database Pass
$cms['db']['name'] = 'RoseOffline'; // Database NameSave, then close the file.

REBOOT YOUR PC

Click Start, then Run, and put taskmgr.exe in the box and press enter.
Make sure the process showing in the image is going!

Find the process MySQL, and start it as shown in the screen shot:

Unless you add MySQL to auto start when your PC boots you will have
to start it manually each time before you play!

8. Open the xampplite folder, double click xampp_start.exe, what is shown below in the screen shot.

LEAVE IT OPEN AND DO NOT CLOSE IT!

Now open internet explorer, in the address bar type localhost, and you should see:

put in your desired name and password, and click Register, you should now see Registration Complete!,
In the main folder of xampplite double click xampp_stop.exe

9. Start SQLyog, Double click localhost where it will expand, expand RoseOffline, ONLY ONCE left click accounts.

In the window to the right select the 3 Table Data tab.
Change the accesslevel to 300
Then click Save Changes as shown.
We are now done with SQLyog and you may close it.
***NOTICE***
When you go to EXIT SQLyog and it ask:
The Contents of this tab has been changed. Do you want to save the changes?
choose NO any changes you make you should save manually like I just showed you.

PLAYING:
1. Open the main directory of Rose Online
2. Find the GameGuard-Patch.zip and RoseOnline_Launcher.zip that you downloaded and extract them both. Put all the extracted files in your Rose directory overwriting what's there. Once you've done that open the file named lconfig.nhd make sure it looks like:

Save and close.
3. Go to C:\RoseEmu-Tekno's Release\Binary
Double click the file named:
START SERVER.bat

Now these 3 windows should show without any errors:

choose the settings you want, close it.

look for the file named worldserver.conf in RoseEmu\Binary
Open it with notepad or a text editor.
find:
accesslevel=100
change it to:
accesslevel=300
Save and close, and you're good to go.

Alternately use Navicat and change your ACCESSLEVEL in the sql db
to 300.

Start Navicat, expand roseon, expand tables, double click accounts, where it says 100 for accesslevel change it to 300. At the bottom of the window you should notice a small black check (kinda hard to see), make sure you click it to save the changes. This way is probably best.
It also makes you a full blown GM.

Anymore problems just let me know :)

Nope, still doesn't work when I tried both of them. Am I suppose to turn everything on? Like Navicat, CharServer, WorldServer, and etc when I want to get in the game?

Odd, it should have worked. You only have to use Navicat for sql database maintenance and such.
But you have to leave LoginServer.exe, CharServer.exe, and WorldServer.exe running while you play.

Edited: Only LoginServer.exe, CharServer.exe, and WorldServer.exe are running and I don't know why it's under maintenance. Before the maintenance comes out right when I click the 'O' to log in. Now it's at the world selection.

Ok, I've finally got mine working! But how to I change the 10k zulie when a character is created to a lot more money than that? I don't think Navicat can do that since I tried it...

I never have messed with the start zuly. I would use the /givezuly command.
/givezuly playersname amount
/givezuly Gado 99999999


The purpose of my guide is basicly to show how to solo host/play the game. The site owner does not want any talk of any public private servers.

I have another question.... I'm trying to use the RoseCMS 3.5 do you know how to start it? I've tried config.inc.php but it still won't load. I get a HTTP 500 Internal Error and AMPstart keeps asking my to run as Administrator and that never happened when I had the older version of RoseCMS...

Yah, I'm not using 3.5 until it's fixed. I found out that you need to install it by going on localhost/install/install.php. But 3.5 isn't good. Many links are broken and it kept saying I'm not logged in when I am. Instead I'm using Dynasty v1. Much cleaner and it actually works ^^

Another question...
Do you know how others can view the localhost site? I think localhost is the wan ip but when I try it it askes for user and pass. I'm guessing localhost isn't wan ip. Then, what is the link for localhost? So how can I set it so others can view my localhost?

My localhost isn't working anymore. I keep getting a blank page every time I go to localhost. Xampp is running and 80 is ported. Help?

Btw, I deleted MySQL 5.0 since someone told me the Xampp already had MySQL. I couldn't turn off MySQL 5.0 since it turns on automatically... and whenever I tried running Xampp it kept telling me MySQL is already running so I deleted MySQL 5.0.

the whole Rose database was in MySQL 5.0 if you went by my setup, and you just deleted it :(. You can change the way MySQL starts from:
Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools> Click Services, Find MySQL
double click it, change the startup type to manual, press OK.
I also added a quick start for services to my taskbar. To do such just look in:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ and find services.msc drag it to your quick launch.

Past this I will need to see your whole htdocs folder in XAMPP.
Use 7zip to compress it on the ultra setting. If you don't have 7zip google it.

Once it's compressed rename it from htdocs.7z to htdocs.zip

Then make a new post and upload it. We'll get you back going here soon :).

I'm kinda confused...
When I get on localhost it has RoseOnline CMS v3.2 layout but it gives me this error:

You have re install MySQL 5.0
Rose isn't setup to use the MySQL in XAMPP.
The MySQL Rose uses is mapped though the file
database_installer.bat in the Database folder.
set mysqlBinPath=C:\MySQL Server 5.0\bin
Unless you have changed this and it's not recommended

Hey, i've PM:ed you, and if i still had problems i should post here, i hope you can help me as quick as possible, ive done the 2 first steps but im stuck on the 3rd 1, Ive downloaded The emulator, and extracted it at "C:\RoseEmu" But my folder only contains 3 files:
"CharServer.Exe"
"LoginServer.Exe"
"WorldServer.Exe"
No folders or anything.
What am i doing wrong? Please help, thank you.

For now just use the /go command after you die until I research this further. I'm not having this problem.

You ONLY need the WorldServer.exe out of it.
Use it instead of the current.

Give me a couple of minutes, I'll have a temporary fix for you to try for the respawn issue.

You should let players have the option to use the /go command though.

This is the best solution I can find for now.
Download and replace the current WorldServer.exe with This (http://www.vince.emuxhaven.net/downloads/rosetopic/tempspawnfix/WorldServer.7z) one.

Modify your server announcement for players to type:
/savetown and pick a town.
When they die they will be warped to the saved town instead of in a buggy location when they choose Dungeon Entrance.

Meanwhile I will be working on a permanent fix.

this is with your new exe^^

Alright, I've looked into the skillbook issue again and confirmed it's fixed.

alright, lets trouble shoot. READ CLOSELY:
Step 1:
Navigate to xampplite

Right click on the folder htdocs, select copy, or (CTRL+C)

Go to "My Documents"

Right click anywhere on the screen and select paste, or (CTRL+V)

Open that htdocs folder you just pasted in your documents.

Delete the templates folder.

Now open the _INC folder.

Delete the 2 folders, adodb_lite and tinymce

Now go back to My Documents, right click on the htdocs folder and add it to a zip.

Step 2:
Navigate to MySQL Server 5.0\data
add the whole folder roseoffline to a zip.

Now either put both the htdocs.zip and the roseoffline.zip
into 1 zip and attach to the boards in a new post, or you can attach separate since you can attach 2 files.

you can increase your run speed by using clickables. (Speed Booster-Extra Mix)
type:

*NOTE 50 is the quanity. If you're higher level and have high strength
you can carry more

You can also Drive a car which is considerably faster. (you can attack while in it also once you're level 100+)
But you have to get out of it to talk to shops and stuff.

Equip on the PAT tab.

Then press ALT+S, and on the Parts tab; hotkey Drive Cart.

There is also a shop that sells parts in Junon Polis (/go 3)

Use it to make holes in certain pieces of equipment.

After you drill your holes re-equip.
Now type:

That will spawn 5 Peridot (Attack Speed 25)

*Drag and Drop< to the equipment you have the holes drilled in. (The effects DO stack)

I don't know what to tell you. If you can use GM commands you should be able yo type:
/givezuly "playersname" "amount"
I've never tried to add that much at once however, try adding like 300k at a time instead.

This guide is only meant for solo host play. I will not discuss any type of support for online play. However I will answer this one question, and only this one about multi. NO MORE. In the Binary folder there is a file named commands.ini, open it, change Go=299 to Go=100

This is no easy task, nor is it easily explained. I will write out a guide on how to do this, but it will take me some time to complete.

Look inside Binary\data, backup the file named drops_data.csv. Replace it with one attached. Although I've actually never tested to see if it works :blush: I can't even remember where I downloaded it from.

Hi! I followed your 1-2-3 steps and right away some errors occured:

*on 'Navicat 8 for MySQL': I cannot connect to local whenever i use a password (root):
>> 1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

*yet it connected when I didn't put any password. The problem is when I ran XAMPPLITE's installDATABASE, it wouldn't connect to localhost:

I read on another forum that when installing MySQL I should skip the registration stuff, because it will block the Navicat. Is that right? But when I was installing the MySQL it instantly registered the product.

I hope it has nothinf to do with the version of Windows I am using. I'm using a Windows Vista (really strict).

Go though the guide again, and read it slowly. Your error is MySQL related. Be sure you put root as password, and login name when you set it up.

nice.. ^^ i had at least an idea on how things are going.. but with that, i only knew how to make a different channel with different rates in it (like EXP, DROP, MONEY_DROP) but i never did found out on how to put a channel on a second server...

here's my observation:
on Navicat's channels table, the "owner" column supports only 0 and 1 to make it usable in the client...
0 is for the server; 1 is for the channel...

i tried doing 2 servers --- server 1 takes the 0 value on the "owner" column; server 2 takes the same value as well
*the 2 servers shows well on the login screen of the client and clickable

now, the trickiest part i have encountered, creating a channel for both
since i know that the value of 1 makes the channel show up, that's what i did: --- server 1's channel 1 takes the 1 value on the "owner" column...
since that shows a channel to the first server, any made channel with the same value goes to be on the first server...

to my conclusion, a channel has to be given a value of 2 and call it by the config as a channel for the second server for it to show in the client...

i am guessing, since i tried using the value of 2 on the channel 1 of server 1, which shows no channel at the client, therefore a MySQL call should be added on the cpp files of charserver and worldserver and then compile an exe for charserver and worldserver again with that new cpp files...

these was where i lost track, since i don't know that much on how the "cpp (source) and h (header)" were structured (i know that was c++, but not the calling and structure on which certain variables and lines do the trick)

i am still trying to understand what's the use of the cpp and h files, from the folders before i try to make a tweak on it...

if ever i managed to make a working second server (that's with accessible channel) i would surely post it here..:bigsmile: but if ever somebody already knew how, tried on his own and made it work, please do share it...:D

alright I've redone a part of the guide. Instead of using Navicat for database management I use SQLyog. It's working fine with me on Vista. I don't know what your problem could be. If you have the room on your hard drive I would make an install with the 139 client just for host play, and go though the setup guide again.

It could be; 1.your firewall, 2.Windows Defender, or 3.Data Execution Prevention causing you to disconnect, past that I wouldn't have a clue. As far as trigger detect goes look at the screenshot. You only need to do this the first time you play the game OR, if you want to change your settings.

Alright, this is all I know we can do to before I suggest you download the client again. Just look over the screenshot and compare you files present vs. mine present. The ones I put the color RED over are files that you should not have, so don't worry with them. The files in my screenshot that shows files sizes, compare them vs yours and tell me if any are different. Also, what is the size of the GameGuard folder in the main directory? mine is 3.15MB. Just hold your cursor over the folder and tell me the size that way.

don't worry with that lconfig.nhdOFFLINE file, you wont have it either.

Hey! Im new here so this is my first post :D

But anyways.. im trying to set up a server and iv gotten to step 7 without any problem. But when I started with step 8 I got my first problem.

When I double click "xampp_start.exe" I get the following 2 error messages:

Hello, thanks alot for the articulate guide. It worked perfectly on the first try. I am however having a minor issue, though with my limited experience with R.O.S.E. Online it may just be the way the game is supposed to be. You see some skills for all classes seem to be unavailable for purchase at the mayor and I tried all the /go locations and didn't find them on my own. I've seen someone else asked about this several pages back but I don't think you quite got what they were saying because when you showed screenshot that the skills infact exist and were usable I'm assuming by all the stacks of 5 in your inventory you simply spawned them. I'm at all costs attempting to stay away from using the GM commands for the time being. So I guess what I'm getting at is are these skills only available through quests/crafting/drops or simply missing from the NPC?

Other than this I haven't had any issues other than spawning in a wall if i die in the cave and don't click the first option. So far I've had the server up for a good 3 weeks.

Alright, I found that. Not quite what I was hoping for but I'll play with it for posterity if nothing else. I believe I saw a post somewhere around dev-osrose a while back related to creating your own NPC, I think when i get back in town I might give that a shot too just to say I tried it nothing else =3

Dynasty CMS would be a great fix if I wanted to let people outside the house on but that's not gonna happen, 1) don't have the upload speed for it and 2) I like being able to play with just me and my wife without the PLS YU CAN AFF11!!1.

Anyhow thanks for the fast response. I won't be in town for a week anyway but when I get back I'll try Dynasty and probably also try my hand at creating an NPC and let you know how that goes.

Hey!

Wonderfull guide. Only, the page of the Client seems to be down. I cant continue without it, i hope your on right now. You probaly have the Client on your comp. Maybe its a bit much to ask, but could you upload it?

I really want to make a Server, but i always encounter problems!

I still haven't found a alternate download link yet but out of curiosity I tried the download link on the first page and it works just fine.

Are you on a dailup internet connection? If so it will take a large download like that a few minutes to initiate. On top of that it will take you a couple of days to download it.

I downloaded Flashget, no succes, im not downloading Firefox for this. I got a friend that might download it for me.

Edit: It says you need a user and a pass O.o

Second edit: Dindt see you Edited yours. It still wont open, Page cannot be found. My friend needs a User and Pass to download it cause its an FTP server.

I tried the link in Internet Explorer and it worked fine.
I tried the link in flashget worked fine. My connection is slow, that's why the download speed is so low.
This is just odd. Hang in there though we'll figure something out.

I don't think that link will work, I should have tried it before I made the post......sorry. Check your router setting and make certain it's setup to allow FTP traffic. Also try turning passive mode on or off.

Try using the Rose Online Evolution 139 client. Don't say you are because that error is related to a different client.

It's OK :D, just make sure you get the 139 version. Actually that error message happens with the 128 clients and older because certain files are missing. It's impossible to get the particular error message you mentioned with the 139 client unless you download one improperly named.

When i run the game it gets stucked at the triggersoft loading screen.. when i shut it down (minimalize) and open it again.. it gives errors..

???? how do i get all that files?
