I've recently been having some mouse troubble, i'm not sure what it is..maybe I need to clean it?

Like when I'm playing quake, and moving the mouse to keep up with the guy, the mouse all of a sudden won't move, and I have to shake the mouse to get it to move. Or pick it up again, and by that time I'm fragged http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif. Also this just started happening so I know it isn't my system

If it is cleaning my mouse needs, I've never done it, and it hasn't been cleaned in like 2 years or so. so how would I go about that, I know how to take the ball out http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

The easiest solution: get a trackball or an optical mouse http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Too bad you will have to shell out some precious $$$.

I just use a cotton swab dipped in cleaning solution to clean the dirt. Much more sanitary. http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif (and no dirt falls back into the mouse that way)

How does dirt get in there to begin with? i don't understand why mine's dirty too. the pad is clean and you're hands aren't greasy right(unless eating while using the mouse).

There are still dust and dirt in the mousepad and mouseball even if you can't see them. It just gathers up there. Plus the mouse ball seems to attact dust and dirt...

That's why I love my optical mouse. Before I had to take my mouseball out for cleaning every hour. Now I don't get any problems at all.

If you ask me, it's more like rubber that gets melted by the friction when you move the mouse...

Egad, that's HUGE, metal! How long did you wait to clean that one?

many a mouse has gone to rodent heaven due to the accumulation of dirt. I remember one puppy having the dirt rings grown to cover all of the roller. Needless to say it was useless and the roller broke while trying to clean it. Even though I LOVE my trackball it slao seems to get plagued with the same dirt problem eventually.

It's a satisfying feeling to sucessfully remove a huge wadge of gunk from your mouse.

Welcome to emuXHaven...

And actually the reason so much dust gets on the ball and the bars is because dust is created (mostly) by dead skin... and one of the body's lead producers of dead skin is the hand... the rest you can figure out... http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

heres a little tip from me..

when you open up your mouse to clean it, get some superglue and gently dab a small coating over the contact points of the ball and rollers. be very careful when doing this, as exess drippage will lead to inevitable mouse #### up.. also wear gloves.. this will help prolong your mouse's life before the next cleaning time comes around

I know, I know, I was kidding. http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Back to the topic, I don't like wireless mouses--mice? I think mouses is the computer peripheral and mice is the animal--anyway, because the one that came with my computer kept doing weird things to the cursor. I think it was just cheap.
