I hope this isn't true. (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=27568)

If it is, I hope Sony has REALLY thought this through.

I think i remember a thread a while back about Sony also patenting a way to somehow beam smells and what-not to your head a while back. So maybe it will just end up like that one. And of course there's been that everstanding "Chrono Break" patent that chances are will never come to be, which proves that a patent isn’t necessarily a product.

Though just seeing that Sony has even thought of this makes me a bit uneasy.

wow that would really suck..
not just for the preowned games.. but also..
wht if your ps3 broke? i mean sony's products are known for not being able to hold up for more than a few years without somethign dying out (hell i'm on my 3rd ps2 since the damn things came out.. at no fault of my own)
then what?
you'd have to buy your games all over again? just because your ps3 fell 4 ft off the counter?

Sounds a bit much to me. I'd be less surprised if Microsoft did something like that =p. But seems like that would be a really stupid move. It would seriously damage their sales. But maybe they'd still make more from the poor ****ers who buy the same games over and over.

Well I doubt it would mean anything to people who mod there systems already as sony would have to set up something to reset the codes as matt said if the ps3 broke sony couldn't get away with making you buy the games again. So I'd guess there would be a backdoor or something sony would do to reset it and if there is then there are people that will exploit and crack it.

Well when that happens, you can count on the stupid shits to re-buy games and real serious gamers would not even think about a PS3. This is just one of the points made about Sony, they dont want to acknowlegde their audience as gamers, young gamers, rather as "progressive modernists," that probably all live in luxury condos and eat caviar all day and use their consoles once a week or so god forbid. Shame on sony if they actually decide to go on with this, and im sure real gamers and devlopers who love their games and systems, will denounce sonys actions. Its as if SCEA wants to fall into a downward spiral.
