Oke there are a lot of ps2 emulators on the net but when it comes to actually emulating cool ps2 games they don't work.Did somebody succeed in playing a ps2 game on the pc using a emulator ??If you did then pls tell me the name of the game and emulator you used.I am intrested especially in game names like Mortal Kombat,Budokai 3 and Project Zero but any other game from ps2 played on the computer is a victory of emulators.I know that commercial games are harder to emulate but what is the point of a ps2 emulator if it can't emulate cool games

There are no emulators that really run commercial games at a decent speed. Games that I know actually works pretty good are FFX and Disgaea. Disgaea even runs at decent speed (60 fps) in latest private build.
Oh yeah, the emulators name is PCSX2.

From what I can tell. PCSX2 has a decent game list. Some being fully playable while others run, give or take playability. The big thing is the Framerate (How fast it plays) For instance Kingdom hearts is apparently fully playable now but just unbearably slow. As far as I remember there were 2 or 3 playable games with full speed. One being Bust a move. Not sure what others.

I have try Mortal Combat before and it take me about 15 minute to load to the first fight. And the movement is really really slow. But the sound is there, if im not wrong.Or maybe I just hear anything else. :P
Im using PCSX2.

The games run slow because the computer is not good enough or because PCSX2 is not yet ready to use all the resources it has at its disposal ??

It's the emulator, not your computer. No computer can run the emulator at full speed yet.
Playstation 2 emulation is very demanding, as is all the next-gen consoles.

It's probably safe to assume that PS2 emulators would take at least 2 more years to run most games decently. Even then, not many computers would be able to run PS2 games decently due to the way PS2 CPUs handle data transfer, as opposed to PC CPUs.

With all the news I've been seeing/hearing about it, however, PCSX2 is an emulator to look out for.

Some games running, even at unbearbly low speed, is excellent news, since last time I checked there wasn't anything like that. I hope this will open the way for Playstation 2 translations, since it means there will be a way to do the beta testing....some day.

Good (old :D) news:

PCSX2 0.9 [ Posted by CKemu @ 5:22 on 03 04 06 ]

Yes folks PCSX2 0.9 is here, by no means gracefully, but it is here!

You can now enjoy PCSX2 0.9 a faster and more compatible PS2 emulator, it's been a year since 0.8.1 was released so you will see many dramatic changes!

Many games are now going ingame, and some are even playable (check out games like Disgaea, or Silent Hill 4!)

I managed to find an emu that might work.
But I'm not sure yet I'll have to test it out for solid results.
