PS2/PC hookup?

I really hope this is the right area for this question, as well as I hope this ain't too moronic of a question...is there a way to hook up a PS2 to your PC, thru a USB or such, for the purpose of screenshots, etc? If not, then can someone tell me how the first screenshots of any game were taken? I mainly would like to do this to post screens of games I have, bosses beaten, yada yada.
I won't be terribly upset if this isn't possible, but if it is, and someone could explain how to, that'd be the shiz...

Simple. Just buy a TV capture card and stick it in your computer.
Then you plug the system into that the same way you'd plug it into a real TV.

I actually own the latter and am very disappointed with the quality.
now that i think about it i have a 100$ gift certificate to compusa.. can't think of what to get with it.. might as well get this.
