outta all the pricless 2d and 3d fighter out there what do you guys feal the best ones are...throw down a top 5 if you want too ...take a look at creativity and number of special moves or super moves or fatalitys the games had and let me know what you feal the best ones of all time are! and list beside um if they are emulated and what emulator supports them!

3.Tech Romancer (Dreamcast + NAOMI) (unemulated?)
4.King of Fighters 98 (NeoGeo) (Mame, Kawaks, Nebula, NeoRageX)
5.Snk vs. Capcom (Dreamcast + NAOMI) (unemulated for those systems)

SNK vs. Capcom is gonna be released on NeoGeo hardware I hear, so we might be seeing emulation of that game sooner rather than later. Tech Romancer is also known as Kikaioh, and I hear thats a playable rom for Zinc. But seeing how the hardware Zinc emulates is basically a PS1, I'm sure the GFX suck compared to the NAOMI ver. But still, check it out if you stumble across the rom.

I think you mean Capcom vs SNK... SNK vs. Capcom and Capcom vs SNK are two different games.

Also the topic title is "best arcade fighter ever!?." Hear that Bright? ARCADE. That alone instantly rules out the NGP version. SNK vs Capcom or Capcom vs. SNK, either way its the same Series, and as long as I specify what platform its on, there should be no confusion what so ever. Yeah well, there are some ignorant people who may think that there is an SNK made arcade game called SNK vs. Capcom, with big headed fighters like the ones in the NGP version! By saying what you did, you would have confused those poor individuals and make them think that there's a game by SNK that's done for NAOMI!

I don't think that's utter nonsense at all. There are so many arcade-to-another system conversions out there. Besides, it's a fact/rumor that SNK is indeed making an SNK vs. Capcom arcade game for the NeoGeo hardware.

And don't make personal attacks, please. That just shows how weak your argument is.

Yup OK, back to topic... I don't really have a preference, since the best fighters seem to be the newest ones (Fighting games is a genre where there's always improvement, I guess), and I haven't played much of the newer games. So it's kinda hard for me to list the top five.

Improvement eh? If only those Eolith ppl knew that. Then maybe they wouldve given us a *NEW* End boss [in KOF2k1] instead of rehashing an Old one. They completely disgraced the KOF name with the 2k1 release. All the characters have been changed I guess for the sake of balance. But they did a horrible job. It seemed to take twice as long for charas to recover after missing a special move (and when you're fighting the cheesiest end boss ever known to mankind, thats a bad thing....a very bad thing). I say Capcom should buy the rights to the KOF series (along with all the sub series the Charas belong to). At least then we could be guaranteed some kind of quality.......

One game that should rank high up there is Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness. Very nice game featuring giant stomping robots. Cyberbots is the sequel to Armored Warriors, and Tech Romancer(Kikaioh) is the un-official sequel to Cyberbots. Why un-official? Well, Tech Romancer had absolutely nothing to do with the Cyberbots story line, but the Bloodia was a hidden bot in Tech Romancer, so thats sort of a link and I've rambled on long enough http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

So my top five still stands, but number 3 now includes the Cyberbots CPS2 game.

Ahh, the beauty of playing online. No, it definetly isnt reccomended for a 56k line(unless you can deal with the extreme lag). I play with Kawaks, and basically any game the emu supports can be played online. It's great. Give it a whirl if you have access to a high speed line.

As for best end boss, I say its Rugal from KOF98. I dunno, just always favored him.

Well SF made the genre recognizable and popular, so it might as well be the game all fighters are based on... But it just isn't as deep as some of the modern fighting games. It wasn't very balanced compared to other SF games either.

lots of good games are out this fall to winter for the gc, Metroid is gonna be out in is it november i think,  Zelda in winter, Mario is out september
