Midway arcade games use a very advanced soundchip, so the sound will always be choppy even in the newest computers.

Hmm... Make sure you do frame skipping (set it to auto or some number) and maybe turn off some of the features and bring down the resolutions. Maybe that'll work.
They run kinda slowly in my comp too (with sound on) so you're not alone. And a AMD-K6 500 isn't going to help either.

There's a special build of mame that is specially made for the MK game not sure if the project is still alive(since i don't keep track of it). U might want to try a Mame build with overclocking which will speed it up.

Yeah, there are a few MAME builds optimized for K6s, try those, they might speed the games up.

Well we always like to help, am just glad I got great staff/members on here!
Well the MAME Builds can be found on our MAME Emulators page : http://www.emuxhaven.net/mame.html
I would recommend getting this : Mame32 (0504) V0.60 + Kaillera client V0.9 (Binary)(Win)
Its K6 Optimized!
I got a PIII 500 mhz , I am gonna do some testing see if I Can run those fine. We both have about the same cpu power.
