Exactly... When I first saw it I thought it was fake or something... I still can't believe that it can run 3000 polygons at once as they claim, but if Gamespot can report it it's probably true...

I thought it was only a matter of time. Because it is a 32 bit system. PSX is 32 bit also. So this great news for GBA. Although theyre doin pretty well already. hehe.

I think this 3d engine is cool, but I don't think it's so much of a deal. There are several great 2d games for the GBA, and more are coming.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it WILL be interesting to see what developers make with this, but I don't think it will be enough of a reason to buy one GBA if you haven't already.

I'm with demauk. pixelate my world dear gba *http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm17.gif
2d rules my world *http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

the 3d engine can be good for racing games, some fighting (a new tekken anyone?) and simulators. but other than that it'll work at it's best as graphical effects. it's a big step for the gba though

well, that's just what I think *http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

I see much much more potential than that with a 3D engine for GBA and Nintendo's amazing ability to pack so much into so little... I see... http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm24.gif http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm24.gif http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm24.gif ...A NEW 3D FF GAME http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm40.gif

I think a new 3d FF game would work, but it wouldn't be done for a while. The GBA cartridge can hold up to 32 MBs (size of Zelda 64) which is quite a lot, but right now I don't think anyone's going to jump to that high yet.

They could transfer a FF game... They nocked Resident Evil 2 (Biohazard 2) from 2 PSX cds to ~ 63 MB for N64 and still improved it. so maybe they could take FF VII,VIII,and IX and do the same... http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

the cart's THAT big? http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif omg... well excuze me then and through what I just sead out the window. http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm12.gif
but anyhow... I do think 2d is the best until I've seen any better. ain't the screen a little small for 3d games like ff and such?

Demauk

You know? I was just beginning to be swayed to the pro-3d gba games side, due to bright's and slips' comments, but jonas has a point. You just shouldn't have too much detail in a handheld game.

But, certainly some crafty developers could make some interesting arrangements and come up with a cool 3d game. Although I don't see anything like that coming anytime soon

Long live 2d!!!! http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/happy.gif

That's true, the tiny screen wouldn't be too good for a PSX style FF RPG (with the 3d characters and 2d background--the characters would be so small that they won't ven look 3d) and I doubt the GBA has enough power to run a full blown 3d RPG game, FFX style.

Hmmm... your right... ... http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm40.gif How About (with gamecube > GBA cables) a 3D character stat screen, but only if they make a FF for GC... you won't have to go through the start screen for the simple stats again (unless you don't own a GBA...) http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Getting back to the original subject, I think games like that would be very cool except slow..they would lag too much.. http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I doubt they would, since developers would definitely try to lessen that load, but the framerate or image quality would definitely take a hit. The GBA processor isn't that powerful after all.
