In Search Of An Old Game...

Hey guys. Hopefully someone on here will be able to help me out.

Long ago (heh) when I was a kid, there was this great arcade game I played. It was a top-down shooter. Very sci-fi. Outrageous weapons. The title, I think, was only one word.

I know for sure the game was in 2d, very pretty though, like high quality 2d, not like Galaga. :)

Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? I seem to recall a lightning type weapon, that split into three bolts maybe (could be wrong on that one)....

Help me out! I hate when things I slighty remember from my past haunt me like this. I had a song in my head ever since I was like 12, that I only recently found. And a book that was read to my GT class in 5th grade... I still can't find (don't remember title, or author, only a bit about what happens). But that's for another forum...

Anyone have an idea on this game?

My sugestion is to look up a web site with all arcade games ever made listed and then browse through and maybe you'll recongnize the name.This works for me when I have similar issues :)

damn .. u know i really wish i could help you. but unfortunetely theres hundreds of top down futuristic shooters with flashy graphics. sounds alot like pretty much all of em actually :blink:

I'm not talking ROMs, just info, especially screenshots.

Yea matt's right. A large bulk of arcade is top down shooters.

Only one that stands out in my mind is 1942 or it's sequals

I've been looking at screenshots, and from what I can tell...

I don't think it is. I think I've played Raiden on PC. I'll have to find a download somewhere or something.
The graphics seem to be similar quality though.

you know i was just thinking.. most of the good futuristic shooters were made by core or treasure , maybe you could search based on that?

Found some screenshots of Tyrian. That's not the one.
As far as I can remember, there was no purchasing new stuff for the ship.

And check www.system16.com, maybe there you could find something useful
