ok so i have 230 fds roms and the bios.. i put the bios in the directory as nesten and fceultra ..btw had to rename it disksys.rom from where i found it in my goodnes set (why was it there?) and in nesten shows up in the corner..disk one side a inserted and i can switch to side b with the mapper for fds.. but fce which supposedly supports it does nothing when i load the rom..neither of the emus work for me ..
so if anyone knows a emu that runs famicom disk system or can tell me how to set up a existing nes emu to run famicom disk system roms it would be greatly appreciated
thank you http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rocketQ3.gif

I downloaded Famtasia as well, but it doesn't seem to work very well. I have to press the buttons 3 or 4 times before they work, making actual gameplay virtually impossible. Do I have to set it up differently or something, or is there another Famicom disc system emulator I can use?

In Famtasia, it seems to take a second or two to respond to the disk change (some games don't respond at all).
In FCE Ultra, you have to "eject" the "disk" (use the 'E' key), then "switch" the disk side (with the 'S' key), and then "insert" the disk (with the 'I' key).
Some emus require you to eject the disk first, others automatically emulate ejecting the disk when you change the side. Read the readme for each emu for individual disk-handling functions.

BTW, are you using the ROM contained within the GoodNES set. If it's ~40 Kilobytes in size, that is an improper ROM dump. That ROM has been modified to make it runnable as it's own ROM, but useless (except for one emulator, which I can't remember) as a BIOS ROM. You'll want the raw, unmodified DISKSYS.ROM BIOS ROM, which is exactly 8 Kilobytes in size (remember, since it's a copyrighted ROM, you can't ask for it here, though).

It keeps on flashing "very heavy" across the bottom of the screen. Could that be part of the problem? What does that mean?

Allright! I used the FCE Ultra Emulator instead of Famtasia and it works fine. thanks for your help guys!

Yep. I made the patches. The original Zelda was for FDS (so far, only thing I know of that's different if a few slightly better sound effects, such as the chime that plays when a wall is successfully blown up with a bomb (used in later games)).
Also, there was Seiken Psycho Caliber (not Seiken Densetsu 1, but that is a long story), and Riddle of Murasame Castle/Murasame-jyo no Nazo (might've been what you were thinking of).
