View Full Version : Gens 1.80
I'm trying to use Gens 1.80 to run Lunar: The Silver Star, but it freezes up after the intro movie. If I try to skip the movie it freezes anyway. It shouldn't be my computer because it runs Lunar 2 near-perfect. Would BIOS matter?

i have no idea what would cause your problem but i feel your pain.
having lunar in your possesion and not being able to play it can be rough http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm2.gif

Umm... RJ... Lunar is a SegaCD game, so it doesn't use roms.
Anyway, Gens should support it, maybe try using Kega to see if it's some configuration problem or soemthing.

Oh BTW, are you using ISO+mp3? If you are MAKE SURE all mp3s are there and fully functional and named correctly, because any missing mp3 means a freeze after intro screen.

lol... Yeah I almost made the same mistake too, then I took a second look and then i realized. Anyway, Gens can play both Genesis/Megadrive games and SegaCD/MegaCD games.
Thanks, I'll be more specific next time.
I'm running it off the actual CD. It's pretty scratched up though. I have yet to try scratch remover on it but I think I will. http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm40.gif

OK, yeah, that might be the reason. Also you should run the correct regional BIOS on it. For example the US BIOS on a US CD, Europe BIOS on the Europe CD and whatever. It's best if you have all three bios.
It's a US CD, I'm using us_scd1_9210.bin BIOS. I cleaned it and the only difference it made was now it's a lot more blinding. What other emus are decent at Sega CD? I could try one.

you could try Kega http://www.emuxhaven.net/sgemu.html
It's a great new Sega Master System, Game Gear, Genesis/Megadrive and SegaCD/MegaCD Emulator and has good compatibility with Sega CD .

Yup, Kega as I said before you can use. Its compatibility is as good as Gens' but it doesn't have as many features.
It seems to work fine on Kega, but I still don't know why Gens didn't work. So thanks.
On another note, how is it that PS emus can use save-states, and Sega CD can't apparently?
