Beware that the newest are also expensive. The gf2-cards are very cheap and relative good.

yes the Geforce 4 Ti is hella expensive and so are the ATI Radeon 8500 cards but like ppl said a Geforce 2 is a good card for a pretty cheap price...

The problem is that the GeForce 2 will be as useful as a Voodoo2 in two or three years.

By then, a geforce3 should be cheap enough to buy.

I believe that you should go with some of the "lesser than" 3rd party companies' cards. Even their best, though not usually guaranteed, are just as or almost as good as your major dealers yet much cheaper. I personally will stick w/ my computer basics http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .

I have a GeForce2 64mb and it runs N64 roms on PJ64 in full screen with no probs at all I think its a great graphics card, but its not always how good your graphics card is cause first you need plugins that will support you card so if you had the newest card you would have a prob as there aint no plugins that support the new Geforce3/4 chipsets.

So far, there ain't. You never know what's going to be out in a few years (with next-gen emulators)

well, I am using a geforce2 mx 64mb and I have had no problems, gfx are very good, i'd go with a geforce 2 like everyone is saying (mine only cost $90) and sometimes geforce 2's are the onboard gfx, so onboard can be pretty good

btw, MESA BACK!

So get a GeForce 2 if you're so pissed... *http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I use 16 bits even though I can get 32 bits because a few emulators work best with that setting.

GeForce2 is THE best! http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Getting a betters card doesn't really matter, since all emulators works good with geforce.

A Geforce 2 MX 400 is only $50!(on several sites and auctions) So get it instead of waiting 4 years for a new comp!
16bit and 24bit is gay so just get it since its so cheap.

I just updated my friends computer which has 256mb ram and ~400mhz celeron processor, and had onboard gfx. *I Put a 32mb Geforce2 MX200 PCI in it. *Now the computer, running winxp, is running like, well, very fast compared to before. *So, a little ram (especially when u only have 64) a nice pci video card, and you'll have a good machine for another 2 years.

btw, the card cost $60 but it had a 10 dollar mail in rebate

Yo im back 2 stay i got a nivida geforce 2 mmx 400 for £50 thats roughly $60 its went down in price scince the releases of XBOX has been released as the Nivida geforce 3 is out (well in the XBOX) and the geforce 4

welcome back metal! we've missed ya,

In my oppinion, a Geforce2 MX400 64mb is probably the best card for the best deal that u can get, unless....u could get a Geforce3 with 64mb ram (that's what i'd get if I had the cash)

or maybe a Geforce4, just for bragging rights http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif but in my mind, it isn't worth it..

Onboard is gay plain and simple. And I agree w/ Bright about
the GF3 thing.

brightman

Well I don't care about N64 emulation. I am describing the gfx card for games and apps in general.

Besides, I get a lot of problems in PJ64 and 1964, such as slow speeds and graphic bugs with a GF2 as well, so it's not like it does perfect emulation or anything.

BAH to all of ye...
onboard sucks, and gf3 is waste of money.
A gf2 is enough i'd say, since it's cheap and the emulators doesn't really use the new stuff in the new gf. So who cares? Go for gf2 mx. NOT Ti!
