It's also a Japanese ROM, 2 megabits in size, has no RAM, was released in 1994 and is a regular Game Boy ROM (no Colour or Super Game Boy functions).

What's the problem? Flickering. It flickers horribly while in game with literally ANY emulator that I've tried. BGB, DBOY, DreamGBC, HeboWin, helloGB, PlayGuy, Prototype-D/WhiteStar, REW, SMYGB, TGB Dual, VGB, VGBC, WinGBC and WinGBC2ND are but a few that have tried and failed.

Has anyone got any ideas about this ROM? Does it use an undocumented feature? Is it a bad dump (there's only one GoodGBx dump, 'Angel Marlowe (J)' which isn't a verified good dump)? Or does it just require a level of accuracy which has not yet been achieved?

No luck here. I tried it out on VisualBoy Advance and got the flickering also. One thing I noticed though is that at times I would change the frameskip rate and the flickering would stop but then the graphics would mess up a bit. I thought it was weird. And on Playguy it just froze while title screen was loading. I couldn't get any further.

Some games are just REALLY demanding on hardware-dependent timing. These are often the most difficult games to emulate.
