Hey I just found out that we have 1 translator now for ff2! http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
spSpiff, the Guy who transated Dragon Quest 1 and 2, and Dragon Quest 5 for Byuu, told me he could 'help us out with that". That is really good!! I'm not sure how much of the project he is wiliing to do yet, but this is great news and means our plan for stage 1 and 2 will work out as planned now. http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Oh great... The same thing happened with me and DQ12r. But all the other people either joined with me, or quit the scene all together. Maybe we should contact the guy and see if he wants to do a joint project. He has all the stuff done that we dont. so combining them would make it get done a lot faster. AS I have spent most of my time on dq12, I havent done much for FF2. Guess Ill get cracking. AS it is I spend 14 hours a day right now on hacking/programming/translating. I guess Ill up it to 16. Yup, maybe you should contact him, since he only looked in zophar.net to see if a FF2 patch was made, and probably didn't know you guys exist. Well it gets even more complicted... Another guy is working on it too(Squall Alpha), but he doesn't have a web page. He has all the menus done and the same stuff, that we dont too. And he sent me some screenshots of the menus and a patch to *try out. Let me just say, OH MY GOD! It looks really good! better than the screen shots from that site you posted. And he emailed me right when I was looking at the other guys site who released a v.10 patch that you posted the url for. I digress...Squall Alpha is interested in combining our works too. And I forwarded all the info to RPGTess. I recomended that we go with Squall, and leave the other guy alone. Becasue Squalls work is really good. Well see what RPGTess says, but we may just have another member at RPGONE that knows how to hack very well. If he says yes Ill put up some screen shots of comparison. OK its all clear we will be working with Squall_Alpha now for sure. Here are some screenshots of the menu work that will be incorporated. Youll see what I mean he did a great job!
Ill start combining our works tomorow. And Ive invited him to join RPGONE, we'll see what he says. Regardless the game will get done a lot faster now!

I stumbled across this site after looking through the GameFAQs forums. I must say those are pretty impressive pictures. I never figured to expand the menus because I didn't see it as important, but now that theres competition I've went back through and redid it up to par http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Another stupid thing I did was forget to consider that theres already a picture of the equipment next to the item, so calling something "MtrlShld" is rather dumb when you can just call it Mithril. Good ideas.. I also like how you replaced the font tiles, much better look than the lowercase tiles in the game which seem to be centered in the middle of the tile instead of the bottom of the tile, like those are. Also, to get the full Frioniel name, did you create tiles with two characters on a tile? or maybe 3 characters on two tiles? I'm guessing thats what you did for the "sell" option since you can only have 3 characters for that.
I originally decided not to expand item/monster names because I wanted to use all the empty space available in bank x37 for dialogue, however after really considering the better presentation, its worth the extra space and really its a very minimal amount. Another great idea.
Questions I have: Have you figured out how to change the battle commands? I've found the string however, for instance, the fight command repeats the first character twice and etc, so if you put Atk in the string it shows up as AAtk, and the magic command also pulls the k from it, making my only option for that Mgk.
Another: The yes/no for selling items! where the hell are they?! ;D
Another: I think it would be smart to combine efforts, however I think we might have different goals. I'm aiming to completely redo the script and I believe you're just going to be inserting the original neo demiforce script (?)
If we could combine efforts it would be smart but our goals would have to be the same. And also, you'd have to want my help too, it appears you already have a very skilled individual helping out.

Okay all... Erik also is joining the FF2 team, Now that all the polotics are done. he he. We can get some major good work done! hes got some good stuff that none of the other team members have done also, so that makes the final team. RPGTess, Erik(he may wanna use a different handle later on), Squall Alpha, and myself. This means a patch much quicker than anyone of us could have done alone! thanks Brightman for finding that info. I am soooo busy with the games, that I dont really take the time to go looking for this stuff. I appreciate it. Ill be working tomorow on combining our work. And then we'll have an early patch release in the next couple days. Looks like stage 1 is a lot closer to being done. Sorry for posting so late. I had to work and go to school today:) Squall Alpha's work is awesome! I have finsihed the translation uo to Salamand and am sending the rom to CHRisRPg later today. I have worked things out with Neo Demiforce now. So our plans still stay as they were. And now I go back to combining the work form everyone into 1 usable patch. Itll look great. Thanks Neo Demiforce too!
