Over at the site that Dboy has I am pretty sure I saw a post stating that Dboy was done with translating the script meaning a longer time until release

With the speedyness of FF2 underway I was just curious if you guys might help Get FF1 underway to completion as well

No we wont. Because its already being worked on by capable people. And They just have real busy personal lives I guess, and the programming issues are much worse to deal with in FF1. Im sure theyll get it done, Its just a matter of waitin hehe *http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Yup, Strag0 and Infested are doing the hacking for DBoy's script, and I am pretty sure others are either helping them or doing it as well.

Meanwhile, play Kalas's hack. Other than the ending, it's not too bad to play with.

a lot of people think that the final fantasys will be re-released on the GBA and have stoped their translations. i don't think that is going to happen i think that square was going to develop new games and re-ports but with their already wonderswan ports of final fantasy they probally wont. i mean how many copies of a game do you expect someone to own.

Yes Yes We are still working on FF1, and in our spare time we've cracked compression on FF2 and just had our fun with it. We're waiting on Nirru to come back to the Romhacking scene and finish up some ASM that we needed done. So it's all in Due time that this can be finished.

Strago the compression of the intro text? If so could you give me any info on it?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">But it sounds like that is what you should do or release one yourself. As it appears you dont agree with this one. I would just stay clear of it, and wait until a better one comes a long. [/b][/quote]

I took your advice Chris, i'm working on my own 'patch' :shrugs: it's just for fun, so don't worry i'm not competeing with you. The Intro text was easy to crack, you can do it.

All right. Ill figure it out. Could you post a link to the page with all the FF1 screenshots, I think a lot of people are unaware of where they are. And they look good. But I also lost the link.

Yes screenshots would be awesome I have been avoiding playing the Kalas patch in anticipation not that it was a bad patch or anything I just think that fighting an ogr seemed odd hehe but at least its easier than figuring stuff out in japanese for me

Yeah the Kalas trans is fine for now. If the patch ever comes out you can always play the game again. But don't hold your breath.

BTW Strag0's previous status update is here: http://www.emuxhaven.net/cgi-bin....2;st=10 (http://www.emuxhaven.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=15;t=12;st=10) (scroll down)

The screens are here: http://donut.parodius.com/ff1screens/ I must say that DBOY's translation is MUCH better than the original NES translation that kalas used.

Id just like to add. that by the time its done you may have the urge to play it again. But... since I dont have a lot of time left for actually playing games... I just will wait. Because I'd rather have a better quality. But I do understand why people dont want to wait... if they knew what all is invloved in a high quality translation/hack they wouldnt mind waiting at all. Because for DQ12 I can say almost none of the programmers original game programming is in tact. I have had to either change or add to many many many routines that do different things. some little things, some big things, except for music. That is left in tact I think, if no bugs crop up. And the reasoning is to see to do just as good a job as the game developer or in a lot of cases even better by not using abbreviations in everything, and making the text look and feel right.
