Yeah, it's mostly a bug-fixing version. (v 1.5.1) but it's still a release! http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

never mind i re-downloaded it and read the readme that came with it, it is just a hack of ePSXe 1.50 by MsExpansion http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

lol hehehe once i found settings that worked for one game they worked for most games i played...

brightman

I prefer tweaking the settings for each game to get optimal performance. I usually save each setting onto ePSXecute and loading it when I want to play.

Well folks looks like the new release of ePSXe will be delayed a bit longer. Seems that time hasnt been on the developers side and more testing time is needed .

Well I dont think I mind , after all more time means more bugs are squashed and more games running.
Infact over at ngemu there was posted screens of 3 PAL games running and no patch needed for them with the help of a new feature being included : sub channel reading . This allows you to get around many of the protections without needing to get yourself a PPF file to patch the emu.
Bomberman PAL, Crash Team Racing PAL and Final Fantasy 9 PAL .

Hmmm, well, that's good...
But getting those patches isn't TOO bad, since they're small at most. But it's a good thing to know anyway.

It fixed a number of bugs including the problem with switching CDs in certain games.

metaphysics
03-13-2002, 05:43 PM
o ive never tried to switch cds....

brightman
03-13-2002, 07:25 PM
Yeah, well, when ppl switched CDs in Chrono Cross and Grandia (and others) the emulator froze, which made it impossible to finish games, so that's why they released this.

Well once i get a decent video card in this computer i will try it http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
but for now ill just have to go to moms house and get on the godly computer to play it http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

You don't need a 3d card to use ePSXe, just use the Soft plugin, it is quick, emulates very accurately, and only requires a 2d card. The only thing is that the Polygons look low res on it, similar to a real PSX.

DeathWyvern
03-14-2002, 03:08 PM
Ya but this computer doesnt even have a "Card" it hassomthing else i guess...

brightman
03-14-2002, 03:17 PM
If it can display graphics, it should work with Soft...

DeathWyvern
03-14-2002, 07:09 PM
Ya but i dont like screwing around with all the plugins http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

brightman
03-14-2002, 08:00 PM
There aren't many settings in the Soft plugin other than the resolution and frameskipping and stuff, which is in just about every other emulator. The reason why ppl say configurating for ePSXe is hard is because of the 3d GFX plugins, but with the soft plugin all the configurating is basically gone.

Well then what about my sound what should i use with this sucky ass sound card if its even a card...

SoundMAX digital Audio....

brightman
03-14-2002, 08:40 PM
Soundcards don't matter much in emulation... even onboard soundcards work.

DeathWyvern
03-14-2002, 08:44 PM
Well what plugin would you recomend

emuxhaven
03-14-2002, 09:01 PM
I think ePSXe SPU core V1.5.1 is a good sound plugin to use .

brightman
03-14-2002, 10:01 PM
Yup, the ePSXe SPU core is very good and FAST for slow computers. If you have a fast computer however I would recommend Eternal SPU which has the best sound quality and least distortions.

The Player of Doom
03-29-2002, 01:50 PM
I would recommend Null2's too, since it can emulate some stuff other's can't. Like in FF9 http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

brightman
03-29-2002, 03:44 PM
I used Null2 a long time ago. It crashed a lot and wasn't as good as Iori's or Andy's (and those two are now the Eternal SPU)
