I've been asking around for about 2 weeks and nobody seems to know much about how to do this. I've used programs that allow me to look at .tim files on a PS disc but its rare that I find more than about 5 pictures on a disc. Most discs just won't give up any pictures. Can somebody tell me how to access all the sprites/pictures on a disc?

You can try using PSmPlay, which can view movies and some images in the PSX discs, but not all.

After checking around a bit more I've found that the most popular method for getting images from a PS disc is to play the game with an emulator, have a movie recorder to record what you want as you play, and then edit the movie frames in a picture program. It's kinda time consuming but I guess that's how most people do it. One of these days, I hope somebody will make a nice GUI-based program to search a disc for any image...

Umm... As i said, PSmPlay scans the disk for images as well as movies. And the last time I check it has a gui.

True but PSMplay looks only for .tim files (maybe .bmp files too, not sure) as far as images are concerned. It works great for games where most of the images are stored as .tim but few games I've found do that. Use PSMplay on Dragon Warrior VII and you get nothing. Same goes for Breath of Fire IV, Tales of Destiny II, Star Ocean 2 and about 15 other games that I've tried. Yeah, PSMplay is a great GUI-based program but it only seems to get at the tip of the ice berg for PS images.

Oh ok. Its a shame then... They should release one that scans for those files, but I guess its too hard to do, that's why they haven't done it yet.

BTW, instead of movie-capturing, why don't you just take a screenshot?

Well so far I know the format is not XA or the typical sound files. That means it could be in the program files, that means i might be able to rip it out with epsxe. I also added a few avatars ripped from FF7(Cloud, Tiffa, Sepheriod, Young Cloud, and others).
