Alright I've tried everything I know, but i've given up :/ I recently got 2 new PSX games. Wipeout 3 and The Mis-Adventures of Tron Bonne, and I'm having probs emulating them :/

First Wipeout 3, I find this situation weird because it doesnt have the regular .XA files or even CDDA music. No, it has regular .wav files(which i've never seen in a PSX game). I got everything but the ingame music emulated, and I guess the .wavs are the ingame music :/

Tron Bonne is is ok. The voices were messed at first, but its fine now. The only prob with this is that sometimes it just up and freezes for no good reason.

Any help is appreciated.

What plugins are you using?

And wav sounds in a PSX game?? I'll check that out.

Video == Petes D3D Driver 1.59
Sound == Petes Dsound Audio Driver 1.14
Cd == ePSXe CDR ASPI Core 1.5.1.

Well... I've had a history of Pete's DSound freezing up on me... That might be one reason.

Well I also tried the SPU Core (ePSXe SPU core 1.5.0.), and I have the same probs :/ Well at least I learned something new from this whole experience...The PSX can play .wav files http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

wat about Nulls 2 ?...

Well if ePSXe core also freezes it's not the SPU's problem... I guess these games are not perfectly emulated yet...

(But I have yet to see anything about wavs in a PSX game... Are you sure they are sound files? Maybe they are other types of files with wav extensions http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cwm13.gif ... Oh well.)

Naaah, I'm pretty sure they're regular sound wavs, cuz I'm playing 1 straight off the CD right now http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif And I have yet to try Null's gimp. Gonna do that now...

As I said before and I will say again, Eternal 1.2 SPU is the best and most accurate sound plugin out there (needless to say, it's perfect in just about every game I have). So next time try that first thing.

Good idea http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Just make sure you adjust the buffer before you come here and say it's bad because it cracks... http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shaun.gif (I've had people do that before)

lol ok what should i change the buffer to ?...

brightman
04-09-2002, 08:33 PM
Well, it's different for every machine. I set mine to 12 and there are absolutely no cracks or static or choppiness. So you should try that and if it still cracks set the buffer higher, and higher, and higher http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Ok I tried Eternal SPU, and it seems to be worse than the ePSXe SPU core. :/ The Voices in Tron Bonne are broken/garbled, and the ingame music for wipeout still doesnt work. But at least I didnt experience 1 lock-up in TB with it. http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Bah, maybe ur rite, maybe they just havent been properly emulated yet. http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif Sigh...

/me sits paitently waiting for ePSXe 1.5.2...........

brightman

Yeah, the voices are garbled becasue you didn't adjust the buffer. But I guess the music is just not going to work (are you sure you checked all the sound options in teh sound configuration? Are you playing on the CD or ISO? cause ISOs don't support CDDA, but I am sure you know that http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif )

1) I set the buffer to 20, quite a ways away from 8 I must say. And it still didnt work. When I say Garbled, It plays the voice samples extremely fast. Entire sentences sound like single syllables.

2) Bah, I'm not smart, but I aint that stupid brite http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif I am using the original CD, notan ISO. And yes I checked all the sound options in the sound configuration. I tried just about every combination of settings possible. :/

Well sometimes too much buffering will be even worst... But I guess if the voice sample's fast then it's not the buffering.

And I thought you knew that but just wanted to be sure http://www.emuxhaven.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
